Melanie Findlay

Melanie Findlay1I have two years of bead making, from humble beginnings in the shed with a welders torch to my present, and very pleasant home studio in the Scottish Borders.

I first started off-loom bead weaving, then my horizon shifted and I was hooked on the idea of making beads. I recently took an inspiring class with Sally Carver (Red Hot Sal) which opened my eyes to new materials and techniques, thank you Sally.

Melanie Findlay 2I love organic beads with silvered glass, but I also like the amazing precision of design and execution that some bead makers deliver with apparent ease. As for myself, I follow my whims of the moment in the colours and bead styles I try, but I love working the glass hot and using gravity to form shapes and at the moment raku 104 is my default setting as the popping colours are addictive.
