Melanie Findlay

I have two years of bead making, from humble beginnings in the shed with a welders torch to my present, and very pleasant home studio in the Scottish Borders.

I first started off-loom bead weaving, then my horizon shifted and I was hooked on the idea of making beads. I recently took an inspiring class with Sally Carver (Red Hot Sal) which opened my eyes to new materials and techniques, thank you Sally.

I love organic beads with silvered glass, but I also like the amazing precision of design and execution that some bead makers deliver with apparent ease. As for myself, I follow my whims of the moment in the colours and bead styles I try, but I love working the glass hot and using gravity to form shapes and at the moment raku 104 is my default setting as the popping colours are addictive.
